Peanut - The Addictive Sprout
We're not kidding - these are actually habit forming
Peanuts are very easy to sprout. Ā They are nutritious, delicious, texturally spectacular, and according to researchĀ at the University of Wisconsin - they lower bad cholesterol. Add them to a stir-fry. Ā Eat them plain or season them with our Spice Blend or Herb Blend. Ā These are the ultimate addition - or snack! Ā
Raw Organic Peanuts have been impossible to find for the past couple years. Ā We are thrilled that the Valencia peanut farmers of New Mexico kept growing their amazing crop, andĀ held on through the dark days after the closure of their main processing plant. That plant was purchased and shuttered by a Canadian company, but a new local plant has come to the rescue, so we once again have the tastiest peanuts - Valencias! Ā To celebrate we have Peanuts for Sprouting on sale (big time) for the rest of June.

Sprouts for Dogs
Dogs Need Vegetables Too
We came up with a sprout mix specifically for dogs. Ā Our vet said it was a great combination Ā for dogs - and our dogs - well - they eat it every day. Ā We've had customers tell us that their dogs steal sprouts, they love them so much. Ā Some pull a sprouter off the counter and help themselves. Ā We'd love to see that! Ā We mix our 4 Legs of Love MixĀ into their food - which is particularly necessary for Chester (the fellow in the picture) as he has been known to pick lentil sprouts out of his food. Ā I guess it's grown on him because he no longer picks sprouts out. Ā They are obviously healthier since they've been eating sprouts regularly, and we think it is one of the main reasons our (almost) 15 year old hound-mutt, Dobie is doing so well, and 10 year old Chester is younger than ever. Ā We call him our Benjamin Button.

Gil's Sprout Fried Rice
Created for and served at the wonderful Kafe Kohoutek in Madison, Wisconsin.
Don't look for it - it's not there anymore =:-(
Ingredients:
1 cup white rice (basmati and jasmine are our favorites)
2/3 cup coconut milk
1 1/3 cups water
2 Tbs. oil (corn, peanut, or vegetable.)
1 Tbs. soy sauce
1/4 tsp. sugar
8-16 oz.Ā Sprouted BeansĀ - like Peanuts!
Preparation:
Combine the rice with the water and coconut milk. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until rice is done.
Heat a skillet or wok over high heat for 1 minute, add oil and heat until smoking.
Toss in Sprouted Beans and stir fry for 1-2 minutes.
Add rice, soy sauce and sugar and continue stir frying for 2-3 minutes.
Remove from heat and eat.
Notes:
This recipe serves approximately 2.
Though this recipe - designed by chef Eric Rupert - calls for Beanie's Awesome Mix,
any bean sprout will do quite nicely. Ā Peanuts are a bean.
You may use another rice if you insist @;-)
Beans and Rice = a complete protein.
