REVIEWS THAT MADE OUR DAY - AND THEN SOME
From time to time - I (Gil) ask you all to review our products. Some of you oblige me and so we get to add to our site’s content - with your input. Most folks ignore my request - and inevitably I stop looking to see if we have new reviews - because I get bummed when there are none. We have to okay them because too many people write inappropriate things or just ask questions - and those things don’t belong there.
One day we get an email from a longtime customer - asking if we’d seen her review. Of course that was enough to get me to login and look. Any kind words thrill us - perhaps disproportionately - but being animal lovers this one just knocked our socks off! Thanks to Linda P. in Florida…
Title: 4 Legs of Love....Thank you! Â Thank you! Thank you!
Hey Gil and Lori,
As I had written you previously, I recently adopted a really sweet stray dog I named Sophie Rose whom the vet said seems to be between 7-10 years old. Â She has multiple lumps on her body which unfortunately turned out to be cancer. Â My heart was broken but I was determined to do whatever I could possibly do to improve her health, beginning with her immune system! Â
That was when I asked you for recommendations and suggestions you might have to help me to help her! Â You suggested trying 4 Legs of Love sprouting mix which I did, hoping and praying she would eat them!
Let me tell you how much she loves these sprouts! Â I feed her twice a day and if I don't put sprouts in her food, she will not eat! Â She eats every single sprout from her bowl and then scours the floor around her dish to pick up any strays that may have gotten away! Â
These sprouts along with other healthy changes I've made to her diet have made her into a new 'person'! Â I can see in her eyes and facial expressions how she's changed and how much better she is feeling! Â
The type of tumors she has are known to return, but I'm believing that giving her body what it needs will help to prevent them from returning at all!
Thank you so much from the bottom of my/our hearts for your suggestion! Â It makes so much sense to treat a dog's body in the same manner we treat ourselves! Â
I was waiting at my chiropractor’s office a day later (Hi Claudia!) and thought I’d read over some old reviews. This one about Broccoli Sprouts made me laugh out loud - it’s just So True…
A little more work - but worth it!
I have been sprouting for a little over a year. I tried seeds from several vendors and find sproutpeople to be hands down THE BEST! I had some trouble with these broccoli seeds when I first tried them but I emailed for help and Gill got back to me in no time with all the answers I needed. My crops have been great since. Thanx for the education! All you really need to do is watch his video. I probably wouldn't have emailed questions if I had watched it first but I ended up learning other useful stuff. Gill writes emails like he makes videos and this web site. He's long winded but really detailed. Go sproutpeople!
Thanks for that one Frank, from somewhere. I love to laugh at myself.
A huge Thanks! to all of you who care about us Sproutpeople. Some of you send us wonderful notes on your orders. We all love them! Do feel free to submit reviews of our products (go to a product’s page to do so). Newcomers often rely on those - and we can use all the help we can get. God willing business will start to pick up for real next year, as more 2023s will not work for our long term survival.
SAVE $ ON SHIPPING
We share this at least once a year, but given the increasingly poor economy we think it’s time again to help you save some money. For all of you who pay for shipping - here is a tiny bit of information that will help you pay less per pound to get your seeds and supplies. This is particularly for folks east of the Rocky Mountains as those closer to us already get better prices from the USPS and UPS - because they’re physically closer to us.
Our shipping prices are based on USPS Flat-Rate Boxes, though we do use UPS when their rates are better - which is almost always the case for big (volume wise) orders. The Flat-Rate prices are $10.75 for Small Flat-Rate and $15.40 for Medium Flat-Rate.
What you need to know is this - most 2 pound seed only orders can fit in a Small FR box. A Medium FR box can hold up to 14 lbs of seed.
If you’re ordering Sprouters or other non-seed items this information won’t help because their volume alters everything.
So, you will save money on shipping (per pound) if you order more. We send a lot of 3 lb Medium FR boxes and we hate to see you throw so much money at shipping - which is why we’re sharing this again.
The light seeds mess this up as they take up more room. Sunflower Greens (in shell Sunflowers) are the biggest culprit because they can only fit 1 lb in a Small and 7 pounds in a Medium FR box. Other troublemakers include Nalo Greens, Buckwheat Lettuce, and a few others - mostly Microgreen seeds (Beet, Cilantro, Dill), but as those are sold in fractional pounds it’s less of an issue.
We also choose UPS for insurance. The USPS is an absolute bear - requiring the receiver to take the damaged box to a post office - where they may even try to take the contents from you. UPS isn’t easy, but they are at least more reasonable to work with.
OUR 4 LEGGED FAMILY
Now that we’re back on Standard Time the boys are a bit confused - and Ira gets less park time - but these pictures are from before the change - and since they didn’t know it was coming - they were just their usual contented selves.
Essentials for those new to the world of Indoor Farming...
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SPROUTS AND MICROGREENS
To us the difference is that with Sprouts we grow with nothing but water and we eat the entire crop (with the possible exception of hulls and roots that grow out the bottom of our Stainless Steel Sprouters) - and they are alive when we eat them. Microgreens are grown on a medium and we harvest them by cutting them just above that medium - at which point they move from alive to not. Raw, great, delicious - just not alive.
While I'm on this subject I need to explain why we have two different names for the same seed - like Broccoli Sprouts and Broccoli Microgreens. This is the same seed. The difference is that each crop has its own page - you go to the Broccoli Sprouts page to learn how to grow the seed into Sprouts and you go to the Broccoli Microgreens page to learn how to grow it into Micros.
This seed will also grow a full sized - which is like 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide - Broccoli plant in a garden - given the proper climate and encouragement.
SEED STORAGE
If you don't yet know how to get the longest life for your seeds - and prevent pests - Â visit our Seed Storage page. The best way to store seeds is in the freezer, but do not use the refrigerator as its humidity fluctuations can harm seeds. There's a bit more to it - so perhaps just visit the page =;-)
Grow to Live - Live to Grow.
Be well and happy.

Sproutpeople.org is an encyclopedic resource of our creation - for indoor farmers of Sprouts, Microgreens, and Grass. It is so enormous that it gives some  the impression that we are a big business. The reality is that we are basically 2 people who eat and breath Sproutpeople - and 2 part-time helpers (one being our son). Our site has been online since 1996. It's the employee that allows us to serve all of you.
In addition to a section that teaches the Basics of Sprouting and Growing, a goodly section of Recipes, a bunch of Videos, and a whole lot more -
Every Seed and Mix we offer has a profoundly detailed page devoted to it. Those pages feature two sets of Growing Instructions (Brief for the experienced and Detailed for the not yet experienced), a Video, Photos of the crop growing day-by-day, Recipes, Crop Specific Notes, Nutrition Info, and quite a bit more. Each of our Supplies also has a detailed page.
Our vast content is organized with Tabs (on computer) and Pull-Down Menus (on mobile devices).  Click/Choose, for example Detailed Instructions on the page you go to when you click any of the pictures surrounding this text - and you will be presented Seriously Detailed Instructions. Click around. Growing Photos. Notes. Recipes. Please let us share what we know.
We survive by selling on the internet, but we live to educate anyone who wants to learn about growing sprouts and microgreens. Learning is what the internet was actually built for, so we're really just doing our part.
Please enjoy sproutpeople.org
I am so happy to see that I am not the only human to use binder clips in the garden!!!
