UPDATE ON GIFTS ORDERED
We are shipping away and will - as promised - get every gift shipped in time to arrive before Christmas - if you’ve ordered already that is.
CHRISTMAS PRESENTS
It’s too late for you to order anything but our Gift Certificate and hope it arrives before Christmas. There’s nothing wrong with New Years Gifts of course - and in fact the new year ushers in our busy season. Resolutions to do better often involve eating - and there’s nothing better to improve our health than Sprouts, Microgreens, and Grass - - and all the wintered in gardeners are ecstatic to get growing in January - so by all means - keep sending the Gift of Growing.
FYI - if you’re in California you may have until midnight on 12/19. We expect to ship every order we have by 12/20 - which will lead into our…
CHRISTMAS BREAK
We will ship on December 20, but will then be closed until 12/27. This is an extremely slow week for us - and with our daughter, Alice coming home, Christmas, and my birthday - the day after - we choose to take the time and be just a family.
We apologize for not warning you sooner, and we hope this causes one any hardship. We wish all of you the happiest holiday season you can hope for.
FREE SEEDS and 1 OF A KIND T-SHIRTS
We still have some seeds to share with you. I (Gil) want to make this easy - but what I don’t want is for Sproutpeople to have to pay extra to ship you free seeds - - so if you want a pound of either Multi-Colored Popcorn (we pop this - it is NOT intended to grow Popcorn Shoots) or Kasha (roasted buckwheat groats - which were sent to us mistakenly by one of our beloved suppliers), just tell us by leaving a note when checking out (there’s a Comments Field on the last screen of checkout). The catch is - we’ll only send them if we don’t have to pay more to ship them. I’m not being Ebenezer Scrooge - it’s just that - for example - if you buy 2 pounds of seed from us and request a free pound - it costs us over $5 to ship it to most of you. On the other hand - if you order 3 pounds there is usually plenty of room in your box - and it will cost us no more - or just a bit. I’m being confusing. Sorry. Just ask if you want some and we’ll send them if we can. Of course - we may run out too.
It occurs to me that if the evil people who seem to be in charge of our decaying societies were forced to watch - A Christmas Carol, Meet John Doe, It’s a Wonderful Life, It Happened on 5th Avenue, and other movies that show that goodness is the better option - perhaps we could change them into people like us. Kind and loving.
We still have 2 custom tie-dyed Sproutpeople T-shirts for sale. They are both Unisex Smalls - but they sure are pretty. One is Red and the other Teal.
FURRY FAMILY AND FRIENDS
Here are a few pictures of our beloved non-human family members in keeping with the season.
We’re keeping this weeks Newsletter brief as we all have things to do - but before we go - we want to wish you all the Happiest possible Solstice, Christmas, Kwanza, New Year, Birthday, or whatever you celebrate. Love and Joy to us all - every one.
Essentials for those new to the world of Indoor Farming...
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SPROUTS AND MICROGREENS
To us the difference is that with Sprouts we grow with nothing but water and we eat the entire crop (with the possible exception of hulls and roots that grow out the bottom of our Stainless Steel Sprouters) - and they are alive when we eat them. Microgreens are grown on a medium and we harvest them by cutting them just above that medium - at which point they move from alive to not. Raw, great, delicious - just not alive.
While I'm on this subject I need to explain why we have two different names for the same seed - like Broccoli Sprouts and Broccoli Microgreens. This is the same seed. The difference is that each crop has its own page - you go to the Broccoli Sprouts page to learn how to grow the seed into Sprouts and you go to the Broccoli Microgreens page to learn how to grow it into Micros.
This seed will also grow a full sized - which is like 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide - Broccoli plant in a garden - given the proper climate and encouragement.
SEED STORAGE
If you don't yet know how to get the longest life for your seeds - and prevent pests - Â visit our Seed Storage page. The best way to store seeds is in the freezer, but do not use the refrigerator as its humidity fluctuations can harm seeds. There's a bit more to it - so perhaps just visit the page =;-)
Grow to Live - Live to Grow.
Be well and happy.

Sproutpeople.org is an encyclopedic resource of our creation - for indoor farmers of Sprouts, Microgreens, and Grass. It is so enormous that it gives some  the impression that we are a big business. The reality is that we are basically 2 people who eat and breath Sproutpeople - and 2 part-time helpers (one being our son). Our site has been online since 1996. It's the employee that allows us to serve all of you.
In addition to a section that teaches the Basics of Sprouting and Growing, a goodly section of Recipes, a bunch of Videos, and a whole lot more -
Every Seed and Mix we offer has a profoundly detailed page devoted to it. Those pages feature two sets of Growing Instructions (Brief for the experienced and Detailed for the not yet experienced), a Video, Photos of the crop growing day-by-day, Recipes, Crop Specific Notes, Nutrition Info, and quite a bit more. Each of our Supplies also has a detailed page.
Our vast content is organized with Tabs (on computer) and Pull-Down Menus (on mobile devices).  Click/Choose, for example Detailed Instructions on the page you go to when you click any of the pictures surrounding this text - and you will be presented Seriously Detailed Instructions. Click around. Growing Photos. Notes. Recipes. Please let us share what we know.
We survive by selling on the internet, but we live to educate anyone who wants to learn about growing sprouts and microgreens. Learning is what the internet was actually built for, so we're really just doing our part.
Please enjoy sproutpeople.org
